At Shalimar Baptist Church, we’re more than a group of people who gather on Sundays. We’re a church family made up of people of all ages and walks of life who are learning, growing, serving, and following Jesus together.

Some of us have been here for decades, while others have just walked through our doors. Wherever you are in life or in your faith, we want you to feel welcomed, loved, and at home.

Our Story — Faithful Then. Faithful Now.

Shalimar Baptist Church has called this community home for more than 60 years, but our story is about much more than dates and buildings.

It’s about the generations of people who have gathered here to worship, taught children their first Bible stories, prayed for one another through difficult seasons, celebrated together, served their neighbors, traveled on mission, and shared the hope of Jesus.

A lot has changed over the years, but the reason we are here has not.

We’re thankful for those who came before us, excited about what God is doing in our church today, and looking forward to what He has in store for the generations to come.

What We Believe — Jesus is at the center of everything we do.

We believe the Bible is God’s Word and that it gives us the truth we need for our lives. We believe Jesus Christ is our Savior and that salvation is a gift of God’s grace received through faith in Him.

But we don’t want those beliefs to simply be words on a page.

We want them to shape the way we live - how we love our families, care for one another, serve our neighbors, raise our children, worship together, and share Jesus with the people around us.

We are a Southern Baptist church, and our beliefs are consistent with the Baptist Faith & Message.

For generations, Shalimar Baptist Church has been a place where people can hear about Jesus, grow in their faith, and find a church family.

We want to know Christ more deeply and help others find Him too.

That happens when we gather for worship, open God’s Word together, invest in our children and families, encourage one another, serve our community, and take the Gospel beyond the walls of our church.

Our desire is simple: love God, love people, and share the hope we have in Jesus.

Ministry doesn’t just happen because of one person. It takes a church family.

We’re thankful for the pastors, staff, teachers, ministry leaders, volunteers, and members who faithfully give their time to serve Christ and care for the people who walk through our doors.

Pastor — Chuck Poplin

For more than 20 years, Pastor Chuck has faithfully served the Shalimar Baptist Church family alongside his wife, Sherry. Pastor Chuck has a heart for preaching and teaching God’s Word, sharing the Gospel, and caring for the people God has placed in his path. Throughout his years at Shalimar Baptist, he has walked alongside generations of families through many different seasons of life and has helped lead our church in its mission to reach people both at home and beyond our community.

Minister of Music — Gary Isenhower

Gary faithfully serves as our Minister of Music, helping lead our church family in worship each week. Alongside his wife, Betty, Gary has faithfully served at Shalimar Baptist Church for 14 years. Through praise team, congregational worship, special music, and seasonal programs, he helps create opportunities for people of all ages to use their gifts to glorify God. Gary’s ministry is about much more than music - it is about pointing people toward Christ through worship.

Pianist — Merilyn Anderson

Merilyn faithfully serves as our church pianist, using her musical gifts to help lead our church family in worship. From congregational hymns and special music to seasonal programs, her faithful service is an important part of our music ministry. Through each song, Merilyn helps create an atmosphere of worship that points our hearts toward Christ.

Children’s Director — Sherry Poplin

Sherry has served alongside Pastor Chuck at Shalimar Baptist for 20 years and has poured so much love into the children and families of our church. As Children’s Director, she helps create a place where our youngest members can feel welcomed, loved, and excited to learn about Jesus. From Sunday mornings to special events and children’s programs, her heart is for helping children build a foundation of faith they can carry with them as they grow.

Administrative Assistant — Amy DuVall

Amy helps keep the day-to-day life of Shalimar Baptist running smoothly and is an important part of everything that happens behind the scenes. She supports our pastor, staff, ministries, members, and visitors while helping keep everyone connected and informed. Whether she is answering a question or preparing something for an upcoming ministry, Amy is always ready to serve.

Financial Secretary & Church Clerk — Marcia Lord

Marcia helps keep our church organized by faithfully managing financial and church records. Her dedication behind the scenes is an important part of keeping our ministries running smoothly.

Treasurer — Carol Evans

Carol faithfully oversees the financial responsibilities of our church. Her care and commitment help ensure our resources are managed responsibly to support our church and its ministries.

Sunday School Director — Denny Evans

Denny helps lead and support our Sunday School ministry for all ages. He works alongside our teachers to create opportunities for our church family to study God’s Word and grow together.

Assistant Sunday School Director — Ann Phillips

Ann helps support our Sunday School classes, teachers, and ministry each week. Her faithful service helps create a welcoming place for people of all ages to connect and grow in God’s Word.

Custodian — John Law

John faithfully cares for our church facilities and helps make Shalimar Baptist a welcoming place for everyone. His behind-the-scenes service supports everything from weekly worship to special events.
